Three major highways
You CAN get here from there. As the primary north-south route in Northwest Wisconsin, Hwy 53 skims the east side of Spooner proper. From Eau Claire to Duluth, this four-lane allows quick access for weekenders, vacationers and homeowners.
Hwy 70 is our east-west corridor, allowing fast access from the Twin Cities.
Known as River Street as it passes through Spooner Hwy 63 joins its twin 53 north of Spooner and they travel together for a few miles before 63 bends off on its way to Hayward.
Water, water, water
You’ll find lakes everywhere. . . and rivers, too. The Yellow River flows through the middle of Spooner proper with Spooner Lake a couple of miles from town. Actually, we’re surrounded! The McKenzies. Big, Middle and Lower are just northwest of town along with Lippsett, Benoit, Rice, Rooney, Dunn, Casey, Loon, Deer, Island, Leisure, Hoinville, Oak and many others. To the south you’ll find Shell and Long Lakes. Drive east a bit and you’ll find Stone, Lac Courte Oreilles, Grindstone, Whitefish and Sand Lake to name a few.
